During the last centuries Leipzig has cultivated a reputation as a blossoming place of trade and a centre of spiritual and cultural life. Today the city has more history, culture and a pulsating business life than ever before. On this classic walking tour you will get to know the old part of the city with its magnificent houses and traditional history. Walk through the old trade courts and shopping passages and follow the traces of those famous musicians, poets and other artists, who have lived and worked in Leipzig and had a great influence on the atmosphere of the city until today. In the St. Thomas Church the world famous St. Thomas Choir is following the traditions of his also famous and former director Johann Sebastian Bach. Already Goethe had some tumblers of wine in the historical restaurant " Auerbachs Keller " and once Martin Luther had some disputable talks with Johannes Eck in the "Pleissenburg" which now forms the outline of today’s New City Hall. Together with an experienced guide you will go on an expedition from the Renaissance City Hall to the St. Nicholas Church where in 1989 the peaceful revolution of the German reunification started.
